UNION WIN: Sydney Trains EA Vote Yes

UNION WIN: Sydney Trains EA Vote Yes

A historic Union win 92% voted YES in support of a new rail Enterprise Agreement after a year of negotiations.

Union members at Sydney Trains and NSW Trains have fought tirelessly for pay rises and new conditions.

Some of the key 100 improvements to EA conditions include:

  • 12% pay rise over the next 3 years (plus 4% back pay to May 2024).
  • Redundancy Deed now incorporated into the EA; rail workers will now have the best redundancy entitlements in the public sector guaranteed in their EA.
  • Commitment to certificate 4 training for all train drivers to ensure their qualifications remain competitive with other states.
  • Introduction of new requirements for union involvement in risk assessments which will improve safety for railway workers and commuters.
  • Commitment to improving representation, retention, and advancement of women in engineering.
  • Stronger workplace flexibility protections, including a right to written reasons for refusal and access to dispute resolution.
  • Plus, another 100 new conditions including increases to allowances specific to individual occupations across the rail industry.

This result is thanks to many union members campaigning for Industrial Action in solidarity after a very lengthy and difficult process to get what is fair to them and for better travel conditions for commuters.
