Every year, the NSW Government spends more than $44 billion of taxpayer money on infrastructure and essential services.
That investment should be building our state — creating secure jobs, supporting local communities, and protecting our state in uncertain times.
Under the former NSW Liberal Government, contracts were handed to the cheapest bidder — even when it meant sending work offshore. The result? Trains that didn’t fit the tracks. Ferries that couldn’t clear bridges. Trams that cracked.
At the same time, billions of dollars in contracts were sent overseas, while regional communities lost jobs and local industries were left to decline.
Now, in the midst of yet another global crisis stretching supply chains, we need to use this moment to secure our state’s future.
Why is this important
We’re living through a time of global uncertainty. Supply chains are under pressure, and relying on overseas production is no longer a safe bet.
A Jobs First Commission would ensure public money backs local jobs — right here in NSW.
A strong, well-resourced NSW Jobs First Commission would:
- Invest in NSW and expand local manufacturing capacity
- Build resilient local supply chains to protect jobs and communities
- Deliver safe and secure jobs for NSW workers
