Thomas Costa was elected Secretary of Unions NSW in September 2026. He previously held the position of Assistant Secretary where his responsibilities included coordinating Unions NSW’s industrial and political strategy.

Thomas is also responsible for establishing Unions NSW, Visa Assist Project which is a specialist resource focussed on assisting unions in representing and advocating for migrant workers.

Before joining Unions NSW in 2016, Thomas worked as an industrial officer and lawyer with the national offices of the Australian Rail, Tram and Bus Industry Union and the Australian Workers’ Union.

Thomas is a Director on State Super and sits on the ACTU Executive Committee
