    *WHY THE STATE IR SYSTEMS MATTER 26 August 2005 
    - In response to the Howard government's proposed dismantling of the State industrial relations systems, the Business and Labour History Group at the University of Sydney is organisinga one-day symposium on the industrial, social and economic significance of the State systems since their foundation over a century ago. The symposium, entitled The State Systems of Industrial Relations: Past, Present and Future, is to be held on Friday 26 August at the Women's College, University of Sydney. Speakers include Justices Wright and Walton from the Industrial Relations Commission of NSW, as well as a number of academic researchers and labour lawyers.

    *PSA Rally against service cuts and job losses 24 September 2003 
    - The September 24 rally against service cuts and job losses across the public service was endorsed at last Monday's PSA Central Council meeting. The proposal came from TAFE & DET delegates. There are service cuts and job cuts proposed for many departments, the biggest being DET/TAFE where they propose to cut more than a 1,000 jobs. Others are not as big as in DET/TAFE but just as important in their environment.
